HOW IT WORKS
FamilyNewsNow is an internet-based display for tablet or iPad, designed to keep people connected through a tailored family news feed.
Originally developed to support the founder’s mother-in-law, the news and photos on the Family Display help reduce feelings of anxiety and isolation, as well as provide practical help to family members with keeping in touch.
USE CASES
Penny: Home alone
One of our pioneer testers was an elderly lady who lived alone and many hours away from her nearest family member. With a failing memory and severely impaired mobility, she was increasingly relying on local friends to help her out. Her family donated an unwanted iPad and signed up for FamilyNewsNow. She liked the photos and family news, but got the biggest benefit from text reminders and alerts for the day ahead, telling her which carer was visiting, together with a photo and name.
Stan: Care home resident
Stan's family knew that he was happy in his care home, but wanted to help the care staff support him with his dementia. They used FamilyNewsNow to post photos of family and reminders of special days. It was helpful not only to care staff but also to other visitors, giving them a focus for conversation and reminiscing.
